How to Feed Your Dog

Despite what most traditional dog food manufacturers will tell you, there is no one size fits all solution to feeding your dog. They’re the reason an estimated 30% – 60% of dogs are overweight. And since overweight dogs live shorter lives, it is imperative we work together to get the quantity just right for your dog. Every dog is different.

Your dog’s daily calorie requirement will depend on its:

Life Stage (Its Age)
Overall Health
Current Weight (If Known)
Activity Level
Neutered/Entire Status

In general terms, a dog should eat between 2 and 3 percent of its bodyweight a day. That said, estimating an individual dog’s daily calorie requirement is not that simple.

Small dogs may need a little more and large dogs a little less.
Individual metabolic rate may necessitate a 20% adjustment either way.
Neutered dogs need 25% – 30% fewer calories than unneutered dogs.
